�첥app, Ltd. has introduced an official character named Sumeedy as part of the company’s efforts to increase brand awareness and to strengthen internal and external communication.

Worldwide, the Sumitomo Electric Group operates businesses and provides a wide variety of products in five major business segments: Environment & Energy, Infocommunications, Automotive, Electronics, and Industrial Materials. Information about the Group’s activities has been widely disseminated until now through publications, advertisements, websites, and social media. The introduction of the official character, Sumeedy, now gives the company a new way to communicate its activities in a friendly, more accessible manner. 

Sumeedy is a visual representation of several of our brand’s characteristics. For instance, its body is composed of multiple intertwined strands, which symbolize the diverse technologies that the Group has developed over the years. As for its name, this is a combination of sounds from how the company is commonly referred to in Japan, “Sumitomo Denko.” The name was selected from 589 ideas submitted by employees. 

Going forward, Sumeedy will be used in a variety of print and digital media to promote the Group’s strengths and activities. We hope for Sumeedy to be warmly received by the public.
